Roketsan’s Levent Air Defense System Debuts at IDEF’21

Turkish firm Roketsan is showcasing a brand new air defense system, Levent, at IDEF 2021 exhibition in Istanbul on 17-20 August.

“We are exhibiting our LEVENT system at IDEF’21, which will provide close air defense to our ships,” Murat İkinci, General Manager of Roketsan, was quoted as saying by defenceturk.net.

LEVENT will have two versions. “The first configuration, using the electro-optical and radar systems on the ship; the second configuration will use its own radar and electro-optical systems to aim at its target,” İkinci added.

Furthermore, Target kit LACIN, SUNGUR weapon systems, Turkey’s first heavy class torpedo AKYA, laser-targeted mini-missile METE, 324-millimeter torpedo ORKA, TRLG-122 and TRLG-230 missiles, and low-range air defense system YHSS will be exhibited for the first time by Roketsan in IDEF.

IDEF’21 is organized under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, and hosted by the Turkish National Defense Ministry. The Exhibition is organized by Turkey’s largest fair firm Tuyap in charge of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.

According to a Tuyap statement, the event will host around 1,200 firms from Turkey and foreign countries.

Last year, the event was joined by over 1,000 participants and visited by some 76,000 professionals from 71 countries.

The fair will host panels on different topics such as space studies, future technologies, and digital transformation.

The event will also exhibit a wide range of defense products in various fields, including land vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), weapons, simulators, radars, sonars, naval platform solutions, aviation systems, missiles, logistic vehicles, s Turkish missile producer Roketsan will exhibit its existing products and nine newly designed products in IDEF.

The 2021 edition of the event was planned for this May but postponed due to the pandemic measures.
